Hi Pacho,

I think it's spelled incorrectly. There doesn't seem to be such a place!

Maybe Suanj or Riccardo could help since Riccardo has done a lot of research in Sicily?

Hello Pacha,
where did you get this name of location from? There is nothing even similar.
If it is written in a copy of an old family record, I suggest you to scan it, and show us using imageshack,
bye Riccardo

Hi again. Received a reply from this site but on forum researching: Cavellero, Nicolini, etc. Brujaojos / Trish mentioned it in the reply as "Lenacalle, Italy." I was confused and am anxious to find out the "real" city/town of origin. Thanks for your help. I need it. :)

Pacho,

Trish didn't say your grandfather was from Lenacalle, Italy. The name came from a transcribtion of a manifest she posted....the volunteers who transcribed the manifests to begin with wrote it like that!

I'll post again for the others to see...

Name: Francesco Nicolini
Arrival Date: 29 Sep 1913
Age: 27 Years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886
Gender: Male
Ethnic Background: Italian (South)
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Ship Name: America
Port of Arrival: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Friend's Name: Pietro Nicolini
Last Residence: Italy
Birthplace: Lenacalle, Italy
Microfilm Roll Number: T840_120

You can also view this thread...
http://italiangenealogy.tardio.com/Foru ... html#28600

You'll run across several errors or variations while searching through records so remember, everythng is only a "could be" (as Trish always reminds us) unless you have actual documentation.

Nuccia :D

again: lenacalle exist NO; in the ship's manifest posted, by direct reading, the town is Serravalle (Serravalle in Chienti) in Marche region. If the ship's manifest posted is right ship's manifest of your ancestor, the TOWN IS SERRAVALLE in MARCHE region.
