Cavallero, Nicolini, Tassano....

Post by pink67 »

Ciao a tutti,
:D :D :D
I have a request just particular and difficult to grant  but I think to try with you all because I see that you are very efficient and help many persons in their searches.....
I write from Italy and in the history of my family is told that an ancient relative of my great-grandmother, when already was ahead with the age had to moved in the USA called from her son who was emigrated there, in order to help him to raise his sons from the moment that he was widowed....
This woman with much displeasure left her country of origin (Sestri Levante - Province of Genoa) crying and fearing not to survive the crossing of the ocean.....
Instead, after many years my relatives known that women dead in USA when she was centenarian.... 8O
Sure between years 1900/1960.
Unfortunately I don’t have sure data of this my far relative, I can only imagine that some possible last names were Cavallero, Tassano, Nicolini....
Does exists a registry of deceased persons where can be controlled if women passed away with such this age ?
I have thought to ask the parish priest of the church of the country if I could give a glance to the birth or baptism registries but unfortunately he is very old with problems of health and hearing and I think it coul be very difficult ....

Someone could help me?

Laura :)

Hi Laura,

Can I ask you to be a little more specific? Here are the questions, I would like to you answer.

What is the woman's name you are looking for? We need her full name.

What is the woman's birth year?

What is the son's name that you mention?

What is the son's birth year?

Did the son come to the USA?

Did any other children come to the USA?

Do you know any relatives here in the USA the she was going to go visit?

Please get back to us for everyone here is willing to help.

:) Hi and Thanks to everyone helping me. This latest info seems to verify all that has been posted so far. Since I am not a member of ancestry (can't afford it)--it has been really difficult trying to tie all the info together. Yet, this is who I am and my heritage. Yes a couple of the Nicolini boys (one being my dad-August) did live in suburb of New Orleans. HOW do I now find out Francesco and Rosa' parents names and their place/city of origin? Your replies have meant the world to me. Ciao.

If its the Nicolini on line five I'd say it looks like 27.

Hi Everyone,

First I have to say, NUCCIA - THANK YOU for posting all the records for me!!!! I really do appreciate it!!!:)

To the Poster,

Don't worry about what the census states about Francesco with the different Naturalization Dates. Just remember that it was people like you and me trying to obtain information from people who couldn't speak English well, so dates, spellings of names, etc.... all can be a little incorrect. This is why you need proof.

Now you do have some good clues from the census. And I would like to assume (which I really hate to do) that Francesco (Frank) was naturalized sometime between 1917-1930. The reason being is that most immigrants became naturalized citizens once they registered with the WWI Draft.

So you can try to get Francesco's Naturalization Records.

You also can try to get the death certificate of Francesco from Louisiana
This might list his parents' names. Here is the link on how to get a death certificate.
http://www.dhh.louisiana.gov/offices/pa ... etail=6489

I also found this person coming into the New Orleans Port
Italian Passengers to Louisiana, 1905-10 Record
about Giorlando Nicolino
Name: Giorlando Nicolino
Arrival Date: 21 Jan 1906
Age/Gender/Marital Status: 40/m/s
Native Country/Town: Campareale
Destination: N.O.,La.
Ship: vincenzon-Florio
Occupation: farmer

The town mentioned above is Camporeale, Palermo, Sicily, Italy.

Also, here is some other information for you. The death information for August Nicolini

Name: August Nicolini
Last Residence: 70003 Metairie, Jefferson, Louisiana,
Born: 6 Jun 1924
Died: Oct 1976

I hope some of this helps,
Trish
