Scotto Di Covello brick wall

Post by Jaclyndagostino »

I've hit a brick wall, and would love some assistance.

Seeking info about my great grandfathers siblings or parents.

Antonio Scotto Di Covello born March 29, 1877 in Naples region. Died 1965 in Brooklyn, NY. Trying to confirm info about parents and siblings. I believe parents were Salvatore Scotto Di Covello and Louisa (maiden name unknown). I'm aware of 2 siblings. He had a brother named Pasquale (possibly born 1884 and moved immigrated to Brooklyn) and possibly a sister named Catarina that never left Italy.

Any info about siblings or parents would be appreciated. I cannot locate any records online and writing to various communes has been uneventful.

Yes, 1887 is accurate. Thanks for catching my typo. I have those documents that you shared although Thank you for taking the time to do so!

I'm struggling to retrieve a birth certificate to determine his parent's names and from there would love to determine any siblings.

If anyone can confirm the correct contact for the torre Del Greco commune that would be helpful to, I want to ensure that I am requesting records to the appropriate place.

Most US records indicate that was where my family was from, but Scotto di Covella is a popular name there, not Scotto di Covello. :/

Clarification: family lore indicates origin in Torre del Greco but all US records indicate Procida. I’ve written and emailed both comunes with no success.

Maybe some problem..
when you ask a certificate, the txt must be done in italian Language, and to specify the use of certificate, and the form of certificate, and all right data of your ancestor, as a well the your data, and postal address(!!)and to add a picture of your ID card, and to add a envelope pre-addressed to you, and the international coupon... By his WWI draft registration card the birthplace seeming right Torre del Greco, and however the surname is of Procida... as I told you and considers that the municipalities, from the day they receive the request, take about 30 days for an answer, if it is negative they answer you, by email( if you sent the request by email) otherwise, if it is positive they send you the certificate with the answer included in the envelope sent by regular mail... so you must also add the time that takes mail to arrive at your address..

I have sent letters using the format and criteria that you suggested above. I've mailed about 4 letters to Procida and Torre del Greco over the last 2 years. I understand that a response may take a while.
