Laura,

I am dumbstruck by what you have found. It's amazing and I am so appreciative. No one knew anything past Pietro, and now you have opened up so much history. Thank you so very much. :o  :D

You have given me so much...

You're welcome... I love help people here (and you're ancestors were coming from my region I'm even more happy!)... Unfortunately both years 1881 and 1883 for the births registrations in Cicagna are missing on Ancestry.com... but you can write to the town hall of Cicagna and ask them the birth act of Pietro...

here you can find help about writing requests to Italy (I believe Pietro was born on 1881 or 1883, considering the arrival manifest...)

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/ ... talian.asp

these are the contacts for the Comune (town hall) of Cicagna:

http://www.comune.cicagna.ge.it/uffici_e_contatti.asp

you can send an e-mail message to :

anagrafe@comunedicicagna.191.it

I also noticed that there's a tree on Ancestry.com about Agostino Barbieri:

Hello "Pink67"

It's been a few years since I last posted...yesterday I attempted to use the email that you provided (anagrafe@comunedicicagna.191.it) and it was returned with "fatal errors". Are you now aware of another way I can contact someone directly? My experience with Italy and Sicily is to be ignored when in the past I have sent letters or general emails.

A trip is planned in June to visit Cicagna and obtaining as much information as possible, i.e. cemeteries where people were likely to have been buried at the turn of the century to maybe 1925, would be very helpful. Of course birth records around 1840 would be nice too! :) I was hoping to get this assistance from Ana Grafe.

Thank you for your consideration and assistance/advice.

Hi Gini,

this is the correct e-mail address:

anagrafe@comune.cicagna.ge.it

http://www.halleyweb.com/c010016/zf/ind ... egoria/146

For records prior to 1866 you have to ask to the parish priest.

Good luck!

Hi Gini!
I came across your post while looking for Barbieri's and noticed that Laura had mentioned a Jennie Puchen. I'm researching my boyfriend's mother's family and Jennie is actually Jennie Pucheu - She is my BF's mom's 1st cousin 2x removed! I don't have too much verified info on the Barbieri side though if you are interested in Pucheu details I have some of that. How are you connected to Peter Barbieri?

I see mention of Luigi Barbieri born in 1882. My grandfather was born in 1882 and came to the United States around 1909 with his wife Louisa Gardella and son Frederick. Could this be his family?
