Perri

Post by vhapth »

Seeking information on Giovanni Baptista Perri born 1872-1873 in Nicastro, Calabria. He emigrated to United states in 1906 and again in 1923. One of his sons was Pasquale Perri (my father) who was born in 1913 and died in 1989 in Pittsburgh, Pa. U.S.A. Pasuale Perri was born in 1913 in Nicastro, Calabria. He came to the United States in 1930, and married Amelia Vescio in the United States in 1933. Any information on any members of the Perri or Vescio family would be very much appreciated.

In order for us to help you, please be more specific in what you are looking for. Have you found the immigration records? Have you located the family on the US census? Do you want to trace ancesters back in Italy? Are you looking for family still in Italy? Let us know a specific research goal.

I do not know Giovanni's birth date, although I have sent for immigration information and I am hopeful that will help. I believe that Giovanni went back to Italy even though he was a US Citizen. (the date of his naturalization was April 15, 1915) I have not been able to find him on the 1920 census and I don't have a copy of his death certificate. I am very suspicious that he died in Nicastro.

Hi There,

The Family History Center has microfilm that you can order and rent for about $3.50 a roll. However, the film is limited from 1809-1860.

Here is the link for the film.

You are going to have to write to the town itself to get the 1913 Birth Act and Giovanni's Birth Act (abt 1873)

Here is a link to help translate a letter for you into Italian.

Did you get Pasquale's Perri's Death Certificate? If you don't get it so that you have the name of his mother. It will make it easier to find him when you write to Italy. The more information you have, the better response you'll get.

I hope this all helps.
