Ianniello

Post by tela1226 »

Hello...I am looking for information on my great grandparents. Their names were Phillip and Angelina (nee Fusco?) Ianniello. I have located their 1930 census record from Plainfield, NJ which states that they were both born in Italy in about 1883. They married at age 22 and emigrated to the US in 1905. However, I have been unable to find any record of them in the Ellis Island information and am therefore at a bit of a dead end. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.
Emily

:D Ciao Misbris....

Felice and Angela/Filomena were in NJ before 1913 considering their children Maria and Angela were born in the U.S. Angela stated she was in the U.S before from 1904 to 1911 at the time of the 1913 arrival manifest. Felice at his 1913 arrival stated he was in the U.S before from 1902 to 1911.. there must be a prior arrival manifest for them both and also a 1910 census. :D

Laura,

I cannot thank you enough for this wealth of information! I was starting from scratch this week...barely even knew names and birth dates. I am busy printing everything out to share with my Dad over the weekend. We are planning a trip to Italy next summer (none of us has ever been) and we would like to see the villages where our ancestors came from. Thanks to you, I know we are definitely going to Maddaloni! Thanks again...I can't wait to follow through on the rest of this information!

Hi Emily,

Welcome to this fantastic forum. :)

If you do a "search" on the forum of the surname Ianniello, you will see that about a year ago I had a similar plea and Laura gave me a great start.

I did not initially know the correct surname or where my grandparents originated (none of my relatives ended up using the original surname).

I don't believe I have seen any of my relatives originating in Maddaloni, but you will see that Santa Maria Capua Vetere is not far away. There could be a connection from previous generations. I have my ancestral tree back to 1800.

I, too, hope to visit my ancestral hometown and there is a remote chance I may get to do it in about a year. It is very exciting.

Please keep me in mind as you pursue your past. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know via the forum or through a PM on the forum. I will be looking for a maddaloni connection.
Jim
