Re: Granelli family
Hi, There are - or were - several Granelli families (inter-related, I think) in the south Manchester / Stockport areas. Until only a few years ago, there was an ice-cream manufactory in Cheadle, Cheshire, which belonged to one of the Granelli families. I don't know if any of these families are conne...

Re: Born in Ioster/Iosten ?
Hi Nuthatch,
I would suggest that the place you are looking for is probably Aosta
(which would sound like Ioster to a non-Italian) a region in northern Italy.
However, this is only my opinion and I could be way off beam.

I see what you mean.
I think that if you type out the link onto Google (etc) you get through.
Clicking on the above link seems to take you to Ancestry.

William David McCarthy
I am trying to find out the date of birth and all other information on an ancestor of mine in the UK. I think I have found him on Ancestry.co.uk on the 1881 Census, but I don't have a subscription to them, and I wondered if anyone can possibly give me some help in finding his details:- William David...

Hi Maestra, thanks for the information.
I just wondered if anyone could find something online before I go bothering the Anagrafe Office again.

Pronati, Giulio
Could anyone help me to find out more information on Giulio. He was born in Bricherasio, Torino, Piemonte, and I would guess the year must be between 1860 - 1870. I found him on Familysearchlabs, Births, for Italy, along with his wife's name and his daughter's baptismal details. What I would really ...

Re: Marinio Elenesa?
Hi again,
I had a re-think, and I believe Livio's is the correct version of Elena.
So the society was for the people who emigrated from Gaeta (part of which may have once been called Elena) - hence the name of the society.

Re: Marinio Elenesa?
Hi,
I found the following snippet of information on a website. The society was for people who came from Gaeta in the province of Latina, Lazio, and seems to refer to Sant' Elena.
The Marinai. Elenesi Societa in 1911; etc. By the1930s there were 55 such societies in Rochester.

Re: Jacaruso, Giuseppe
Hi Jeanine, The Giuseppe Jacaruso arriving in 1903 at Ellis Island fits the bill, and the ship's Manifest states that he lived in Celenza. He also states where he is going to in Connecticut and the name of his cousin. I think his father's name is mentioned also. When you go into the Ellis Island sit...

Re: a sparrow family member that speaks italian
There seems to be several Alfred Michael or Angelo Sparrows. In fact, Alfred seems to be a recurring name within Sparrow families. The person I found in Soho is, I have just discovered, Alfred Michael Sparrow, born 29/10/1874, christened at St Mary, Soho, Westminster. His parents were Henry Sparrow ...
