I'm trying to find any sort of information (but especially naturalization information) on Giuseppe Cargioli. He was my GGF. I'm trying to find any information I can... He was married to Luchrezia Cargioli...

I'm also trying to find information on Ladano(sp???) Corsi and Flavia Corsi.

Both these couples lived in Erie, PA, but I'm pretty sure the Corsi's lived in Ohio for a bit... It would also be great to find there original hometowns. (Sorry... I have no maiden names...)

THANKS!
Reese

Hello Reese!
We'd be happy to help.
Do you have any of your family's census, immigration or military records from the US?
Thanks!

I was able to find some stuff on Ancestry.com free trial... but my college budget couldn't afford it at the end of my 14 days.

I was able to find the Corsi's in the US census record in the 1930s through my grandma Olympia. She was one of the kids listed. But the census record made it look like some of the kids had been born in Italy and my dad is almost positive that they were all born here...

The only thing I could find for the the Cargioli's was a draft form the Giuseppe (Joseph) filled out in his 60s for WWII. Other than that, I couldn't find ANY census records that account for him. One census listed a "Frank" Cargioli that could have fit the time-line of Giuseppe... but it could have also been a totally different person. I'm still trying to figure out why there was no census record!

Thanks Reese, we'll see what we can find.
Chances are their names are either misspelled or mis-transcribed on the census records.

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! It's funny that "Carjoli" was a misspelling because my dad's side of the family pronounces it that way. haha

Thank's so much! My dad actually just told me the maiden names of my great-grandmothers.. and it would be amazing if you could find a ship manifest. You've found so much and I appreciate it immensely!

Here are my grandma's maiden names (we're pretty sure):

Flavia D'Amico or Damico
Lucrezia Marcchini

If you find anything on those two - that would be incredible. I can't believe how fast you found it. I was going crazy those 14 days because I couldn't find anything for the cargioli's!

Thank you so much!

That is Flavia's record! Both my GGP were arranged marriages, and it says she was coming over to get married to Lidano! Thank you so much!

I'm going to keep looking for Lucrezia. And if anyone else finds it - please post it!

Thank you so much you guys!

Hi,
the name of Lucrezia is listed completely mispelled: Sucrgia but if you look at the manifest, line 18 (click to enlarge) you will see it's Lucrezia (correct Italian spelling for that name). She was from Fosdinovo which is under Massa Carrara province, Tuscany.

She was joining her sister Enrichetta Marchini, Eire PA

Lucrezia Marchini

Regards

Ada

Is there some secret to finding all these documents that I didn't know? I can's thank you all enough! It's crazy to see all this stuff. The main reason I started looking into my family history is because my family and I are considering going for our Italian citizenship. And it looks like we can apply through either side. But I do have one more question - what is the best way to find the petition for naturalization that it seems Lidano applied for? The local court where he applied? Straight to the feds? Thanks again everyone!
