My Paino family from Malfa. Salina, Messina

Post by laura3leigh »

What I know of my Paino family from Malfa:

My grandfather, James (Giacomo?) Paino, b.1886, d.1963, emigrated to the US from Malfa, Salina alone in 1900 at the age of 13. I believe he joined a brother in New York. He left about 5 siblings in Malfa.

Is there someone who can correspond with me about him or the family?

Thank you!

He left about 5 siblings in Malfa

Laura, have you looked thru the NY ship's records to
find possible Paino relatives?
Father Vincenzo...
It's also possible they may have been joining the same
folks as Giacomo in NY or VT.

Valarie,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU! You have found so much in so little time!

I do have some of what you sent but you've given me some invaluable facts on which to work. I have searched some of the same records over and over, allowing for different spellings, transcription errors, etc. Still, you have found much more so quickly!

I'll do some detective work and get back to you with what I can find and with more questions, no doubt. Sure wish I'd found Italian Genealogy.com sooner. Thanks again!

Regards,

Laura
