Thanks Nonna....this is great!!
I just took the tutorial and they even offer you a certificate of completion,
sounds like a very worthwhile project. I will be volunteering.......
Nuccia.....the data entry fields are better than the census project we just did some months back.......this should be a breeze!!
Hugs,
Lee

I hope so Lee! Glad Nonna mentioned this. Between the three of us we should have a hoot!

Just got an email from ancestry to take a "special" survey. Theres lots of new things about to be offered...all at a very "special" price..(a little too high for my liking...between $350-and $450). Too bad, it sounded great until I heard what the price might be.

Thanks , Nuccia. I knew that I could count on some people from here...We have many members that are very generous with their nonexistent free time!

Nonna..did you even think for a minute Lee and I wouldn't jump into this??? We have to stay out of trouble somehow, you know!

Actually it sounds so exciting..and theres even a section for transcribing Ontario death records...right in my backyard! I'd love to see more Canadian records made available. I think a poster had even commented on that earlier today on one of our Boards.

I would also be interested in the NY records and West Virginia/Ohio Records. Everything looks so good. How long have you been volunteering for Nonna? What are some of the things we have to look forward to? Come one..share...

Thank you so much for that link. I just registered. I also tried to read the details in their confirmation email to me but it wouldn't open.

hm....

It's a great idea in any case. I remember when I was about 18 working as a volunteer at my Local FHC (Hartford CT Stake) they were indexing the 1880 census. I am pretty exited about this!

Anytime a project involves transcribing records to be made available for free......you can always count me in!!!

Now Nuccia....I always stay out of trouble...... :P
And with the five grandchildren currently bouncing off my living room furniture....it's not me in trouble these days.......
Grrrrrrr!!!

I just started my first project last night, the 1900 census for Massachusetts. Ancestry.com has already done this, but I am sure the LDS church is aware of that. It is pretty cool, you download the software and then log on, the actual images come up within the program and the fields on the original documents are highlighted yellow as you go. It couldn't be any easier!! Of course you would have to have heaps of time on your hands.

You can chose your project from the list as well.

I wonder.......with the Lds transcribing these records......will we eventually see some of the microfilmed records of foreign countries make it into the transcription process??

That's great Mike!! Anytime you get a chance to transcribe records, especially when being made available free of charge.....go for it!!!

Every little bit helps....even if it's just submitting obituaries or transcribing a cemetery, and it's a great learning experience. :)

That is what I said Lee, if I ever want to get better then I need to do everything I can. It should be really fun.
