Maragni / Ochmann Help Please

Post by cerg »

Hello Everyone,

In the process of waiting for all my information back on Giovanni (John) Cergnul... :) I am going ahead with his wife's side of the father. I am looking for information on the following:

Cesar Maragni he was born in Montua, Italy , I don't know what year. He married Martha Ochmann who was born in West Fahlen, Germany born on Sept. 1, 1881. They had three children that I know of named Adele (Dolly) Marangi born Sept. 3, 1905 in Clinton , Indiana. She was married to Giovanni (John) Cergnul, I have their married date but not handy I believe it was 1918.

Their was also two sons named Pete Marangi and Ceasar Maragni. I believe that they stayed around the Indiana/Illinios area.

I would like to find out more information on the Cesar Marangi like when or if he came the US, when he died and where he lived. Martha Ochmann Maragni, I would like to know when she came here also and where she lived. I do know that she was naturalized on Dec. 9, 1938 in Benton Illinois and lived in Sesser Illinois. I do not know if they had any other children then what is mentioned above.

Thank you guys for the help! Hope to hear from you soon.... :D

Thanks Maria and vj,

I wonder where her husband (Cesar) was in 1930? That Ceaser is her son. Martha was living with her daughter Mary and her family, so there was more children than what I thought...

I really want to see that Manifest that has to be Cesar that I am looking for. Thank you guys!!!

Kristina,

We must be related. I am Cesar Maragni's great-grandson. My great-grandfather died in 1911 just a few months after my Grandpa, Ceasar, was born. My Dad, who pointed me to this website, is also named Ceasar and will be in contact with you soon to help fill in some blanks for you. Thanks for doing this search as it is fascinating to see the name of the ship he and Martha came over on, along with precise dates!

Sincerely,
Brett Maragni

I was just in St. Louis a few weeks ago with my Dad and our cousins, looking up the old homes where they lived when they were little. Martha, Pete, Dolly, and Ceasar all lived in St. Louis at the same time. We had our picture taken in front of John and Dolly Cergnul's three story house.

Dad and I also went by the cemetery in Sesser to go by the family graves that are there. Here's some info on the family.

Cesar Maragni is buried in Centralia, IL. He died in 1911 of pneumonia. They were living in Rend City at the time and there was no cemetery there, so they buried him in Centralia.
Martha died in the 1960s and is buried in Sesser, IL.
Their children:
Mary died in the late 1960s or early 70s and is buried in Sesser, IL.
Silvio died as a young man (early 20s?) and is buried in Sesser, IL.
Dolly lived in Christopher, IL, died in 1991 or 92 and is buried in Sesser, IL.
Victor lived in Benton, IL, died in the late 1980s or early 1990s and is buried in Benton, IL.
Pete lived in West Frankfort, IL, died in the late 1990s and is buried in West Frankfort.
Ceasar lived in Waltonville, IL, died in 1994 and is buried in Sesser, IL.
Also buried in Sesser are Martha's parents: Alois Ochmann and his wife.
