If you get a birth record for your father you will have the maiden name of his mother.

:loljavascript:emoticon('post', 'message', ''):
Thank you misbis and laura. Yes that is my father. This web site is wonderful and I will be using it often. My father lived in New York with his uncle. After about 6 months or more, he went to San Francisco and lived with his brother Luigi. The passenger list I looked up in Ellis Island was different than this one from Ancestry, but the rest of the information is correct. Thank you again. I will try and find my father's birth certificate. Thank you moreno.

Thank you Pink 57. Yes the information was my father. The picture of the man I couldn't tell. I didn't know if you were asking if that picture was my father. I am new at this. This is a wonderful site and so interesting but confusing too. I am laughing because at times I am brain dead when it comes to computers. Take care and thanks again.

Rosemarie,

I want to share with you some things about your father...

On the (payment) site Ancestry.com I found out that his birth date may have been:

California Death Index, 1940-1997
about Giuseppe Coffrini
Name: Giuseppe Coffrini
Social Security #:
Sex: Male
Birth Date: 15 Apr 1890
Birthplace: Italy
Death Date: 27 Jan 1970
Death Place: Marin

I believe he was born just a few years before 1890 because on his military enlistment for the First World War he stated he was born on 15 april 1889 then corrected in 1890

World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
about Guiseppe Coffrini
Name: Guiseppe Coffrini
City: San Francisco
County: San Francisco
State: California
Birthplace: Italy
Birth Date: 15 Apr 1890
Race: Italian
FHL Roll Number: 1544263
DraftBoard: 13

The same site, ancestry.com has online the Civil registrations (birth. marriage and death) also for the town of Varese Ligure, I checked the years 1888/1889/1890/1891 in the day he stated he was born (15 April) but I haven't found him... :?
I will check all the years to see if maybe the birth day or month was different but in the meanwhile I found that the lastname Coffrini is pretty rare, not specifically from the area of Varese Ligure but it comes especially from the town of Borgo Val di Taro - Parma Province - Emilia Romagna region.
In fact Luigi Coffrini, Giuseppe' brother, at the time of his first arrival in the U.S. on september 1907 stated that his last residence in Italy was Varese Ligure but that he was born in Borgo Taro...
Do you believe possible that Giuseppe too was born there?

Rosemarie,

I noticed that Giuseppe and Luigi had other siblings who did emigrate in the U.S. ...
I found a sister, Carolina who landed in NY city port on November 1911 (she was 25 years old and stated that she was born in Borgo Taro) and I found that David Coffrini was another brother......

I checked the Birth Database for Varese Ligure and found David's birth act:

Year 1904 Birth Act number: 187

Coffrini David Giacomo was born in San Pietro Vara [fraction of Varese Ligure] on 5 november 1904. He was son of Antonio Coffrini, age 60, farmer and of his wife Maria Giacopazzi, age 44, farmer

I'm sending you the birth act image, click the link below (act number 187, the first on the left side)
http://postimage.org/image/2e0dspomc/

So, your father' mother's maiden name was Maria Giacopazzi..

Also Giacopazzi is a pretty rare lastname and it's mainly present in Borgo Val Di Taro, same as Coffrini...

Dear Laura,
This is so very interesting and I cannot thank you enough. Giuseppe di Antonio Coffrini we thought was born year 1881 in parma. The birth place Borgo Va Di Taro, parma province makes sense. My father was raised in Cembrano.
He was the fifth child of Antonio & Maria Coffrini (Giacopazzi) The siblings were Luigi, Rosa, Carolina, Louisa. After Giuseppe came Pietro, Eugenio, Virginia, David and Angelina. Not sure on the order, but close I think.
I found Luigi, and my father on the passenger list at Ellis Island. On that list I did not find Carolina found a Cardina that seemed to fit. Didn't find Louisa, but Luigia that also made sense. Pietro and David I didn't find but they were here in San Francisco. Luigi died when my father got to San Francisco because of the influenza outbreak. I just found out about Eugenio. I think he died at a young age. I am looking for that information and also Angelina's married name. I think she lived in Camoggi, and her son lives in Ruta. What ship did you find David Giacomo Coffrini on. Thank you again.

I found them as members of the crew of this ship on 1923:

It is possible that they landed in NYC and remained in the U.S. after this passage...

I found the birth act for Pietro Paolo Coffrini in the databases of the civil registrations for the town of Varese Ligure:

Year 1897 - Birth act number: 88

Pietro Paolo Coffrini was born on 15 april 1897 in the Comune of Varese Ligure, specifically in the little hamlet of Salino
He was son of Antonio Coffrini, age 52, farmer and of Maria Giacopazzi, his wife, age 36.

here you can find the list of the hamlets of Varese Ligure:
