More likely Scapuzzi with one "p". Possibly even Capuzzi without the "S" which is about ten times more common than with the "S" in modern Italy. http://www.gens.labo.net/en/cognomi/genera.html (type surname into "Cognome" box)

Also, Dario, not Dorio.

It is not exactly what you asked for, but this site ( http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl ) shows:

Dario Scapuzzi getting married in Bedminster in July/August/September, 1873;

the birth of Alfred Egisto Scapuzzi in Bedminster in December, 1881;

the death of Alfred Egisto Scapuzzi in Bedminster in June, 1883;

the birth of Martha Nellie J. Scapuzzi in Bedminster in June, 1887;

the death of Dario Scapuzzi in Bristol at age 54 in March, 1907;

the marriage of Martha M. J. Scapuzzi in Bristol September, 1910;

the death of Martha Scapuzzi in Bristol at age 86 in March, 1933.

For the last entry - possibly Dario's wife?

For the next to last entry - Possibly Dario's daughter?

I am not familiar with British documents, but perhaps Dario Scapuzzi's marriage certificate will state his place of birth?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

The name Scapuzzi exists in the town of Livorno (English Leghorn) and nowhere else in Tuscany. So I think it is safe to look there first.

Unfortunately, The LDS records only cover Anglican church records for this time period.

Here are names of Scapuzzi who still live in Livorno.

Info on Scapuzzi from rootschat.............

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.ph ... =showPosts

9 England (Counties as in 1851-1901) / England - General / All bit confusing! Bristol/Somerset area on: Wednesday 11 October 06 22:53 BST (UK)
Ok....I'm trying to find Henry Hoare b.1855...he married Martha Day in 1869 and they had one child (that I know of) Albert Hoare b.1875

On the 1881 census Martha and Albert are living in Bedminster, Bristol but no Henry....it does say that Martha is married though.

Martha has 'lodgers' Dario Scapwin and his son (I believe they are actually Dario Scapuzzi and son...later changed the name to Dart) that are logged seperately on the 1881 ensus...Martha later married Dario in 1902, in Axbridge, Somerset. Dario had previously been married in 1873 in Bedminster, Somerset.

On 1901 there is a Scappiezi Dart living with his wife Matilda and daughter Nellie...could this be the same person as Dario? I think it's too much of a coincidence that the name is so similar and that he is from Italy also (it does say 'Leghorn, Italy' but I think that this has been entered wrong)....but the wife Matilda doesnt fit...neither does her year of birth (1844)...the Dario I'm research did have a daughter named Nellie though.

I'm waiting on the marriage certificates for both first marriages and the second marriage between Martha and Dario but I cant figure out what happened to Henry...I havent been able to find any death record for him.

If anyone can help or point me in the right direction or something that would be great

Sorry that this is so long!!!

cheers, amy

As I said above Leghorn is the English translation for Livorno.
