Nicoletti family from Calabria
Nicoletti family from Calabria
Im looking for info about my ancestor Caterina Nicoletti Mirabella. She was the wife of Giuseppe Mirabella. She was born in 1875 in Italy, possible Calabria. She had a sister Rosa Nicoletti Vito, born in 1873; and her mother was Maria Nicoletti, born circa 1839, and died in the 1910s in NY - Her maiden name was something to the effect of Salavage. Any info on these people would be amazing. I know Caterina had at least 2 other siblings.
Thank you very much,
Nick

Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
I have further info on these people that may assist researchers to help me. Caterina's parents were Gaetano Nicoletti (born circa 1830s in Italy - most likely Calabria) and her mother was Anna Maria Salvagia Nicoletti. Her maiden name could have been Salvacia or Salvaia too. She definitely died post 1910 - but most likely before 1930. Any info would be a great help. Thanks to all,
Nick E.

Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
Wow, Thanks so much Laura, these documents are amazing, and very helpful -I have a question though, how would I go about finding italian records on these people? Is there a way?
Thanks again, Nick

Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
These surnames are definitely primarily found in the Cosenza province of Calabria. You may want to try the Cosenza Archives to see if anything turns up there.
Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
Thanks for the tip Nuccia, I checked out the website, and its probably a great website but I couldnt find anything that was useful... Sorry, but thanks so much for trying
Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
Nick,
considering that Mary Nicoletti appears on the 1900 census and is not present in the 1910 census we may think that she died in this time frame...
What about this record?
Nicoletti Marianna 66 y Dec 20 1905 Certificate: 38818 Manhattan
Approx birth year 1839
She stated she was born on July 1829 in the 1900 census and on 1839 in the 1910 census....
Maybe requesting this death certificate could be helpful? If the record is correct for your ancestor, It may have listed the birth place...

edit to add:
don't know if this record may be helpful too...
Marriage between:
Vito Giuseppe Dec 14 1891 Manhattan Certificate: 15722
Nicoletta Rosa Dec 14 1891 Manhattan Certificate: 15722

Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
Laura, I dont think that could be her because she was in the 1910 census, like you said - she wasnt in the 1920 census though - so I figure she died somewhere between 1910 and 1920. Sorry; but the second record is definitely helpful - I have to order that one! Thanks

Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
I noticed that, and no I dont, sorry, I was just going to ask you the same thing though. Is there any way to find out? I know Anna Maria's husband was Gaetano but I don't know his father to even guess what their other kids could be.
Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
I was doing some research and found a brother for Caterina - Domenico Nicoletti - married to Concetta Volantina - 9/22/1892 - any info on this family?
Re: Nicoletti family from Calabria
Can anyone help me out with finding some info on the previously stated Domenico Nicoletti?
