hello again! I am so thrilled with all your helpful information...my family are all now conversing with our italian relatives in PADIVA....with SKYPE. I am at another road block...my best friend from way back is a De Luca. We were told the day after her mother was buried that we are related....her name is Edith DeLuca. Her parents were Ruth(schmitz) and Jake De Luca. Jakes Parents were Charles R. De Luca born in Messina, Sicily on Oct 24, 1878, and rose (rosina) Franchina, born in Galati de Momertino, Sicily on March 28, 1883. they were married in March of 1903 in Italy. they came to US later that year. Roses parents were Jacob and Pauline (sutera) franchina. Charles parents were frank and Mary De Luca.
My father was Charles J Baptista. His parents were Samuel J Baptista born in St Agata, Italy April 2 1885 and Josephine (Giammo) Baptista born june 11 1896 in Italy. Parents of Samuel were William and theresa (Franchina) Baptista. parents of Josephine were Salvatore and felicia Giammo.
I went to the web sites to search for anything and i cannot find the connection. we are told the franchina ladies were sisters.
