Praiano/Pileggi in Maida
Praiano/Pileggi in Maida
I just found a Maria Praiano who married Francesco Pileggi, I'm guessing around the late 1800's. Both were from Maida, CZ. Does anyone have any more info about or connection to this family? Thanks.

I am not sure what information you have or where you found it, but you can try writing to Maida and requesting their marriage certificate. If found, it will include the legal names, dates, and places of birth of both spouses.dobbygog wrote:I just found a Maria Praiano who married Francesco Pileggi, I'm guessing around the late 1800's. You can find form letters in Italian here and here.
The address to write to is:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Maida
Via O.De Fiore snc
88025 Maida CZ
Italy
You can try email; some comuni are responsive to email requests, others not so much: comunedimaida@alice.it

I found their info on familysearch.org. Your suggestion to contact Maida is very helpful. If I try to e-mail I'm guessing it needs to be in Italian, correct?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Maida is a very small comune of just 4,000+ persons. In large cities, there is always the possibility that someone will be able to interpret your English letter/email. In smaller comuni the odds decrease rapidly.dobbygog wrote:I found their info on familysearch.org. Your suggestion to contact Maida is very helpful. Use one of the Italian form letters I linked to earlier and, if you want, include an English version as well. You can begin the English version with a sub-heading which says simply "In inglese:". Ideally, this will be a direct translation of the Italian version rather than a re-written/re-worded text.
