Searching surnames Canella & Alba

Post by leash »

Hi,

I am searching decendants of my nanna's family.
I am wondering if I have any cousins in Italy that I may not know about.
my Nana Assunta Scecchitano, parents names were Francessco Canella and her mums name was Nunziata Cenalla, Maiden mane Alba.
It would be awesome to get in contact with any relatives.

Thanks
Alicia :)
Known surnames- Mollica, Alba, Cannella, Secchitano
I would like to research my family history and find out as much as I can =)

Hi maybe you know that Assunta's father was Domenico CANNELLA ( right spell)and not Francesco Canella; Domenico and Nunzia( aka Nunziata) was born in LENI town, Salina isle( http://6suviaggi.com/wp-content/uploads ... alina1.jpg ) , Eolie Islands, Sicily, IT;
Domenico was born the 4/2/1896 and arrived in Australia the 19 June 1925 by Caprera ship
http://s5.imagestime.com/out.php/i384263_cannella1.jpg
and with picture:

http://s5.imagestime.com/out.php/i38426 ... menico.jpg

I know not if Assunta was born in Italy or Australia; I believe in Italy, because a record of immigration is of 1948:
Title
CANNELLA Assunta - Nationality: Italian - Arrived Melbourne per Aircraft 23 September 1948
Barcode
6559413 Series number
B78 Series accession number
2009/00248049
Control symbol
ITALIAN/CANNELLA ASSUNTA
Contents date range
1 Jan 1939 - 31 Dec 1972 Extent
Location
Melbourne

Date of decision
10 Jul 2009

so for any birth record you can write in
Servizi Demografici
Via Libertà
98050 Leni (ME)
Italy
hoping helpful,
regards,
suanj

Hi Leash abt the immigration records the website is http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/record ... index.aspx so you can find all and to request also the copies.....
abt the other question, abt living relatives,in all Messina province are only 4 Cannellas, but nobody in Eolie Islands, and so nobody in Leni also.. I believe that this 4 Cannellas are no related with you http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... &om=0&td=3
ditto for Alba people... nobody living in Eolie islands...
hoping helpful,
