Recine= Racine?

Post by Conti832 »

First, l am going to say a pray for the people and the area where the Earthquake hit.Bless them all.

I was at our County courthouse today looking for records when I came across the name John Battista Racine.I was further interested when I saw that he lived in my hometown of Sharpsville because my Grandmother was a Recine.But I then saw his address was Alice Row which was where
my family lived! I have not been able to find anymore on him on The Ellis Island site.Any ideas or help?

He became a citizen in 1920.

Ancestry.com is the best site to start with. If you're not a member, they often have free trials so I'd check that out.

There is a chance of relation. I've seen things like that happen a few times where the spelling varied but there was a connection. And in some cases the families knew each other and lived closeby, but didn't even know they were related.

Since you know what area he lived in it should be pretty easy to get census records. Do you have those yet?

No I don't have them yet.Could very well be something to it because Alice row was a block of row houses that my family lived in.

What was his birthdate and place of birth in Italy? so that his arrival data canbe determined accurately and whether this was a correct spelling or a mispelling of Racine? =Peter=

Peter, I don't know I saw his name in a book stating that he became an American citizen in1920.Yesterday was the first I ever heard of him.I wasn't able to pinpoint anything on The Ellis Island site.

Today I found that not only did John Battista Racine live in Sharpsville and at Alice row but was also from Pofi ,Italy.He came a Month after my Grandfather in1913 and because his name was John and my Grandmother's Father Giovanni, I think I uncovered what I was seeking.
