Also I forgot to say before. After Giuseppe and Elisabetta got married and moved to America Giuseppe change his name to Joseph Markano and Elisabetta was then called Elizabeth.

Welcome to IG!
You have extensive dates listed for previous generations! How did you acquire these? Have you collected any Us documentation? Consulted microfilm or sent for Italian records?
Look forward to your reply!

Re: Looking for Marchiano
a distant family member (not sure who) had emailed this information to my grandmothers sister in 2000. And my great Aunt had sent it to my Grandmother. At the time i was to young to really care about where i came from. My grandmother and Aunt have since passed on. And I just recently found the information. I have it on a print out. The person who sent it to my Aunt said that he had gotten most of the information from Microfilms and census records i have some of those records myself. But when i tried searching for the census records on Ancestry.com i had only recovered some for Costantino Marchiano and thats it. I personally have only found 3 census records and a passanger list for Costantino. Im not even sure what the boat was called i cant read it. And a passanger list for Giuseppe Marchiano. I'm not sure where i have to call or write to get Microfilms or Italian records.

Re: Looking for Marchiano
BTW i forgot to tell everyone before but Giuseppe Marchiano eventually changed his name to Joseph Markano after arriving in America. And Elisabetta went by Elizabeth.
Here are the passenger lists I had found. Giuseppe came to America on a boat called EMS. Giuseppe is #20
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u113 ... erlist.jpg
Im not sure what the name of the boat is that Costantino came to America on but i do know that he came with 2 of his children. Rosina and Demetrio. They are #710-712
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u113 ... chiano.jpg
And here is an old Marchiano/Markano family reunion picture. My great grandparents are in the last row. 4th and 5th from the left

Re: Looking for Marchiano
If you can list what census records you do have, members can search for those that you don't have.
In the meantime, here is a helpful guideline written by member Trish regarding the use of microfilm:
I volunteer at a Family History Center as well as teach a class there on how to begin your genealogy. I have written the information below for our FHC. I think it might be useful for everyone when they are trying to locate microfilm.
The proper way of obtaining microfilm from a Family History Center
1. You go to www.familysearch.org
2. Click on the tab on the top right called Library
3. Click on the words Family History Library Catalog
4. Click on the words Place Search and type in the town you are looking for. Then click the word search.
5. A list of the results will show up. (an example: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
6. Click on the link you are looking for such a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Vital Records. A new page will appear where it will show all the films for Vital Records
7. Click on the link you want such as Death Registries.
8. Click on View Film Notes and a list of the microfilm numbers will appear.
9. Click at the bottom of the page, For a printable copy, click hereand you will get a form to print out with all the film numbers.
10. Click print.
Ordering Microfilm
1. Now the FHC does not have all the microfilm in their possession.
2. You have to order the microfilm which takes 3-4 weeks for it to arrive.
3. It costs about $5.75 a roll for 30 days of viewing time.
4. If you need to renew the microfilm, it cost about $5.50 for another 60 days.
5. If you need to renew it after the 60 days, it will cost another $5.50 and the films can be kept on an indefinite bases.
6. Microfilm must be viewed at the FHC.
7. Copies are $0.35 a page.

Re: Looking for Marchiano
I was looking through some of the papers i have hear and i found a couple print offs of census records for Joseph. The first one im not even sure if it is even for him. They don't give me the whole census record though.
1900 New Jersey Census - Middlesex Avenue, Metuchen, Middlesex County ( E 59; S 13)
Joseph Martin B. 1869 It It It
(enumerated with his brother, Charles)
(Joseph - Married, imm. 1896, alien)
1915 New Jersey Census - Durham Avenue, Metuchen, Middlesex County (page B-2)
Joseph Markano Age 44 Fireman b.1-1871 It It It
Elizabeth Markano 46 House wife b. 7-1869 It It It
Rose Markiano 18 Fcty b.10-1897 It It It
Angelina Markano 13 Student b. 10-1901 NJ It It
Chester Markano 12 b 11-1902 NJ It It
Elizabeth Markano 9 b. 6-1906 Nj It It
Josephine Markano 8 b. 3-1907
(Joseph - in the U.S. 17 years; naturalized)
I also found a folder with some more info. I know each of Joseph's childrens married names and their children. The only one i dont have info for and searched for myself was Angelina. I found a census record but i am unsure if it is the same Angelina.

Re: Looking for Marchiano
Females are harder to trace unless you know their married name, but not impossible.
Trace the relatives you do know. You may find her living nearby in a census report or even with family. Young married couples often lived with family before moving out on their own and you can discover her married name as all relationships of those living in the household are listed.
Check out the death records, obituaries and cemetery records. She may have provided information, been listed in the obituary or even buried nearby. Also check into the wills and probates of family members. Every one of my Aunts, Uncles and Grandfather are listed in both of their parents wills. One of my Aunts was listed with her married name.
Is there any mention of the church they attended? Did they stay in the same general neighborhood? Check parish records for marriage or baptism of nieces and nephews, maybe she was godmother to one of them. Also a marriage announcement of a sibling could list her as one of the wedding party.
Also, since you do seem to have alot of information, , put it into perspective. A good genealogy program puts everything at your fingertips!!
There are several out there, but the following one is free and easy to use.
