Iacullo from Santa Maria Capua Vetere

Post by fiy123 »

Im looking for more information reguarding my famly.

Surname is Iacullo,

The farthest back I have is in Santa Maria Capua Vetere,

Gaetano Iacullo(born abt 1868) Married Vincenza Messina(we think was born abt 1867 and believe thats her maiden name)

They had 7 children. I know at least 2 (Pasquale and Joseph) came to Brooklyn, NY

Joseph is my great great grandfather

Ive hit a dead end here, thanks for any help that can be offered.

Joe

ps I also made a post about a naturalization question regarding the same surname here: http://italiangenealogy.tardio.com/Foru ... html#68204

According to census records, Gaetano & Giuseppe probably naturalized
between 1920 and 1930 in Kings County NY

For reference:
1920 census Gaetano & family
1930 census Gaetano & Pasquale
1930 census Pasquale‘s family
1930 census Giuseppe

Is there anyway I could get an exact date on Naturalization? would I have to make a request from the US government?

In that ten years span my grandfather was born, and im trying to determine if I am eligible for dual citizenship.

also what exactly are on those microfilms, and how would I go about ordering it

Thanks so much for all your help so far :)

Two possible records:
From Steve Morse One-step Naturalizations

Declaration of Intention (the beginning of the process)

SURNAME/ First Name/ Dec Vol/Dec Page/Year/Pet Vol/Pet Page/Soundex
Iacullo Joseph Gaetano 235 274 1920 308 83 I240
Iacullo Gaetano 235 261 1920 I240
So im guessing my net step is the U.S govt for an exact date?
Not yet, I'd try NY first -

That's understandable
It's spelled wrong - the enumerator probably 'sounded it
out'
second family on the page: Yagula - Gaetano, Vincenza & 3 children

Joe,
You're welcome, I'm glad we could help.
No luck finding Giuseppe in the IGG database,
although it appears Gaetano's naturalization
record is there.
I'd go ahead and write to the NYC Archives and
give them all the information from Giuseppe's Declaration
of Intention (with a note that you can't find the actual
record of naturalization).
