Valenti/e Family

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Valenti/e Family

Post by summergirl75 »

I am hoping someone may be able to help me with the following I am trying to locate my great grandfather immigration to this country. His name is Dominic Valenti appros date of birth 1872. His wife was Mary valenti. The 1920's census list him as living in Boston, MA year of immigration 1906, Mary's 1900 and their oldest son Anthony 1901. It is confusing because some of the same faimly used Valenti and other's Valente. Dominic was a barber and had a shop in the North End of boston. His wife is listed in the 1930 census living with a son so, I assume he had passes. My father tells me his grandfather was from Calabria (?spelling). Any and all information attempting to locate Dominic will be much appreciated. Thanking you all in advance.

Do you know the town that your great grandfather came from? I'm researching my family right now and have relatives with a similar surname. The Valente's I'm related to live(d) in Brognaturo, Spadola and Simbario.

Sometimes the names on the ships manifests were spelled incorrectly.

I should be getting my films from LDS very soon, if it turns out your great grandfather is from the same area, I'd be happy to look up any information you might need.

Let me know.

Regards,
Elizabeth

Hi Summergirl,

Just to let you know, Calabria is a region of southern Italy. So for example - my grandfather was from the town of Brognaturo, in the province of Vibo Valencia (VV) (was Catanzaro), in the region of Calabria Italy.

So if someone ever tells you they're calabrese, that means the region they came from was Calabria and from that you know they are from southern Italy.

My films just came in today and I'm going to the research center to look at them tomorrow. I'm very excited about it. Wish me luck.

All the best and good luck in your search.

Does someone know Alina Valenti, about 83 years old living in Medford, her relatives should be Peter Valenti, Alinda Valenti, Bruno Valenti, Pietro Valenti, Sonia M Valenti etc. ? Alina Valenti lived in Italy in Villagio S. Marco Fossoli di Carpi (Modena).

Best regards,
Irina
