Looking for any info on Gagliardi......

Hello everyone .....I am new to the site is this is awesome..I am looking for info on my g-great grandfather. His name was Vito Gagliardi born 1874 in Naples...I think that is his last name..It was changed to Collyard when they came to America in either 1900 or 1901..He had a son in 1897 or 1898 named Pasquale and his wife was Catranie (Catherine)...any information on him or the last name would be wonderful....Thank you, Sheri

I have a Vito Gagliardi arriving NY 3 Dec 1901 aboard the ship SS Sicilia. this could be him. He was going to be with his cousin Vito Rocco.

The manifest is on microfilm serial 15 roll T715_241
Page Number: 91

Thats them.....thats all the info I have of them..Pasquale actually changed to Charles between 1920 and 1930. I have NO information before they came to America and was wondering if I had relatives in Italy now?? There was a big rift in the family back in the 40's I believe so we have no idea where actually they came from..Joseph was my g-great grandfather.

Have you written to the Iron Range Research Center
for Vito's Naturalization paperwork?
It may have his original surname.
Caterina's Maiden name was Viario?

How do I go about getting both US and Italian records?? I have no records what so ever..The only information I have is what I found online...Thank you for your help...I hope thats his last name....

That's a pretty neat site, looks like they
have quite a few records.
Maiden name may be spelled wrong,
possible Vicario or something similar.

Sheri, Italian records require the town of birth.
I'd get some US Vital records that may have
the correct surname and exact town of birth.

I'd start with Vito's naturalization paperwork at
Iron Range first
- it may be the quickest way to town of birth
& correct surname.
Once you have that information you're on your
way!

This may be completely off the topic, but I know a family of Gagliardi's from East Hanover, New Jersey. Do you by chance know them, or is Gagliardi a very common Italian name? (forgive my ignorance)

I noticed your message because my ancestors are from Naples too. I am looking for a Nostrame, although I think they may have changed his name, too, like your ancestor did.
