Hi, I would like some help about finding the family Cianchetta, first what does the surname mean and where does it originally come from:?: I was told most of my grandfather's family left Sulmona, went to Chicago in the early 1900's. I having trouble locating them in this area. I have names like Angiolina and Bambina, Domenico, Concezio, Antonio and Raffaele.

Anna Lena Cianchetta Menconeri WAPPINGERS FALLS - Anna Lena Cianchetta Menconeri, 88, a 63-year resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Poughkeepsie, died on Thursday, April 22, 2004 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Menconeri was employed as a finisher at Dutchess Frocks in Wappingers Falls. A communicant of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, she was a member of the St. Mary's Mothers' Guild and the St. Mary's Altar Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Daughters of Mary at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie and to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Born in Stoneco, N.Y. on July 25, 1915, she was the daughter of Antonio and Bambina Ricciotti Cianchetta. On April 27, 1941, she married Frank H. Menconeri in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Menconeri predeceased her on Aug. 1, 1973. My gg grandfather was Francesco Cianchetta from Sulmona approx birth 1813 death 1899 had married late in life, I dont know his wife's name. They had children Antonio, Concezio, Raffaele, Bambina, Angiolina, Loreto and Giuseppe. I couldn't tell you their date of birth or any of their spouses names, because I don't have the information. I know that the surname have various spellings ending either with an e or i making it more confusing to check the right person. My g grandfather Loreto(1851-1917) who married Cesidia Maria Malvestuto had Lucia who travelled to Chicago. I did look on Ellis Island for her that was evidence that she belonged to this family. What do I really need to do to track the others? Do I really need the date of births, if I dont even know?

I believe this could be a link, my grandfather Carmine wrote some of his memoirs, he stated that Domenico Cianchetta was a son of Concezio went to Chicago. Is it possible that Concezio 7 was named after his grandfather?

Thanks for the information on Bambina's daughter I have to look into it further. I am still confused about the name Angiolina, because what I understand she is the daughter of Francesco Cianchetta by my grandfather's info, he may got confused then there is Angiolina as Domenick's wife

I believe there is a link with Domenick because most of the names I am looking for are there. Should I write to the Anagrafe Office of Sulmona and ask for the Stato di Famiglia

I would like to find out more about Lucia Cianchetta, she didn't have a brother called Domenic it may have been her cousin. I have infomation she married a man by the surname Primiero had a few kids, later widowed returned to Sulmona not with all her kids. One Child remained in Chicago by the name Tonino Primiero. Who was his father? Is there a census to prove this fact from year 1913?

I found a Tonino in the Publics Record search but I would rather not post it on the board since it shows him still living. If you are interested I can PM the info.
