Here is the link, I guess the upload function is not working here.

As for finding a Spanish speaking person...I am fluent and highly proficient, and also in Italian...but this is no qualification to translate this text!

It is handwritten and hard to read, it does require someone who sees this often to decipher to a 100%.

Perhaps the LDS library in Albuquerque has a knowledge of someone who is a "regular" at the Library and knows Italian and Spanish well enough to assist you. When I taught a course in the LDS library in Lala land there were a number of self taught experts who impressed me with their knowledge and competence in Italian and Spanish Genealogy.

By the way do you ski Taos? I lived in Taos for two seasons and have friends in Santa Fe. NM is a fun place to live..where else can you stop every 15 miles and gamble at an Indian tribe reservation Casino. Suerte =Peter=

Peter, I think I was the LDS "regular" in ABQ who could read these in Italian, but not in Latin :(

In either case, you got me, I am currently living in...ehem! Pisa, Italy...rather stationed here now and not at Kirtland if you know what I mean...

But you're right, there is an LDS chapter here where it might be much much easier once I make the trip.

I just thought this forum would have plenty of very readily available experts that can decipher this in no time.

As for Taos, I did ski there every other weekend back in 2006/7 since they did not allow snowboarders! :)

Dear Gerald (beemer?)There are very competent people here and in Italy where you are but since you could not get the documents to this site your in a better location when you catch a break.

We obviously have the same view of snowboarding which makes you my model. Alas I skied several years earlier than you before the medics caught up to my cardiovascular system and did their dirty work. Now I can't ski above 8000 feet which puts me into the parking lot. Suerte =Peter=

It is a baptism, there are few things that I am missing, but basically here is the translation.

99 - The year of the Lord one thousand eight hundred ninety nine, the 6th day of August 1899.
I Parish priest Joseph F. Carli, baptized a baby male born to Vito Mantia and Lucia Rinaldi xxxxx named (Pietro Paolo). Godfathers where Filippo Lxxxx and Felice Antonino his wife from Leonforte (?)

Livio, thanks again and sorry abt the other post under document and translations...won't do that again!

Peter, you can always ski at sea level in Dubai or Tokyo...only two places I know have indoor ski areas but there must be many more!
The one in Dubai is state of the art and makes real powder although more compact, it has cuves, moguls and pine trees!
You completely forget where you really are! Of course, gotta pay for a long ride to get there :(

Hello, I have a police file and in it there is testimony of a Eugene Angelo LaMantia in Milwaukee in 1931.

Eugene said he lived in Chicago for 3 years, then Palermo, Italy, then Buenos Aires and a small town in Argentina called Tandil for 8 or 9 years. His father died in Buenos Aires and then he returned to America and lived in Vineland, New Jersey for 7 years (where he worked on his father-in-law's poultry farm). While in Vineland, he was married by the justice of the peace and his witness was an Italian police captain named Jim. The couple then moved to Milwaukee.

Is this the right family? I am trying to connect this Eugene to an Angelo LaMantia that married Josephine Aiello of Milwaukee. (I would prefer to be connected gavin6942@yahoo.com than through this forum.)

I cannot make a connection at this time. Where was Eugene born? Because this would tell us if his real name is Eugene or the Italian version. There should be plenty of ship records, and those could probably tell you his origin. Also, there has to be something with his father's name. That would make it easier to search for ship records into Argentina.
And of course, if you have not paid for a month of Ancestry, where these records would take minutes to surface, then I suggest you do that.

Good luck!

Gerald
